What happens if you sneeze so hard you rip a hole in time? Sneezeception is a fast-paced, time-bending short film that turns a simple dad sneeze into an event that rewrites human history, packed with visual gags, easter eggs and blink‑and‑you‑miss‑it details for attentive viewers.
As writer, director and solo filmmaker, Petr Hostaš (aka Huefinder) used Sneezeception as a full‑pipeline exercise: from story development and previs to 3D production, compositing and final grade. The script evolved over multiple rewrites during production, reshaping both plot and time-travel mechanics, and turning the project into a personal lab for visual storytelling and self‑discovery.
Visually, the film combines Blender-based 3D with experimental multi‑pass workflows and stylized compositing in After Effects, pushing a layered look built from custom textures, lighting setups and extensive use of asset libraries to accelerate production without sacrificing a coherent style. Impact frames—heavily stylized, anime-inspired shots that flash by in one or two frames—became a core aesthetic choice, giving the film its punchy, graphic feel.
Sneezeception was produced in roughly ten weeks of free time between client work, with Petr handling all visual aspects and long-time STROY collaborator 3SKA creating original sound design and score. Early unused concept art informed camera language, composition and the film’s overall visual identity, turning discarded ideas into a foundation for the final piece.
Created as a deliberate test of end‑to‑end short‑form storytelling—from idea and character through to festival‑ready delivery—Sneezeception showcases Petr’s ability to lead narrative, design and technical workflows on a project of his own. The film is currently on the festival circuit and will be released online after its run, aimed at leaving audiences with a smile, a bit of wonder, and maybe a new respect for just how dangerous a dad sneeze can be.
The main character of the film is simply "Dad" because those have the strongest sneezes of them all (why right?). The character has been customized from a purchased model and rigged in the Auto Rig Pro in Blender 4.3
