Synopsis
What would happen if you sneeze so hard, you travel back in time? Well.. it can have big impact on human history apparently. What if you sneeze multiple times? Get ready for a proper event-shattering ride.
The post production workflow has been experimental to test out new looks with multiple layers rendered out of Blender and interesting effects within After Effects
Impact frames are fun concept inspired by anime and they rarely get enough love, so I decided to go all out on them, even though they show for just one or two frames in the final film.
Unused art concepts from the first days of production before the finalization of the story served well to establish the camera movement mechanics, composition and style.
Film development
The film was written over longer period of time and rewritten during its production twice. That changed the plot and the mechanics quite a lot, but it being personal project, it was a great journey of self discovery.
From the very begging the goal was to tell a fun comedic story filled with easter eggs and little jokes hidden for the most attentive viewers. With that in mind also develop a unique style that will fit the story and won't be a hurdle in the production.
For all that the obvious tool to bring the film to life was Blender 3D with help in compositing in After Effects. To save time, Blender Kit has been used extensively together with custom unique textures and lighting to keep coherent style in place.
The production was limited by the free time between projects and the whole film was made during 10 weeks. The only other work force and my colleague from __STROY studio was invited to create high quality SFX and score - 3SKA - big thanks to him!
The main character of the film is "Dad" because those have the strongest sneezes of them all (why right?). Customized from a purchased model and rigged in the Auto Rig Pro in Blender
The goal
This film was done as an exercise in writing a compelling short story, all parts of the production and postproduction workflows. Apart from that also to bring smile any little bit of wonder to anyone who has a chance to see it.
Film will be eventually uploaded to YouTube, in the meantime it will visit couple of festivals and other venues.
